Paradise TOO's ending-- new series beginning

May 8th, 2003, 12:32pm

I've decided to end the Paradise TOO series with issue 14, which is scheduled for June release but will likely be almost a month later. This is due to the increased demands on my time to do both the SiP series and work on the new SiP Treasury book for HarperCollins. For those who look for the conclusion of the Wonderland story, I will have one more chapter in issue 14 of PTOO, it will not conclude the story but it will bring this particular little tale to an ending of sorts. I like Wonderland and may spend more
time there in the future. As for Kixie and Plato, the two characters who garnered the most friends among readers, I promise not to let them fade away. They will find other ways of getting back out to you and one of them may be as backup stories in the new series I will launch next year? which brings us to the ultimate reason I'm ending PTOO. In addition to continuing SiP, I plan to launch a new series next year that will feature a new cast of characters. That's all I can really tell you at this point other than I love it and I hope you will too. Watch the website here for first peeks at the new series later
this year.

Not a total waste...it had some interesting stuff...it really did...Terry did a great sketch of Plato in my sketchbook after I called that crazy polar bear by the wrong name...(The polar bear was my university mascot and I got the names mixed up...) [img]tongue.gif[/img]

All i can say is- thank god!

I think it was great that Terry got to play around with something akin to the sunday morning comic strip- but frankly, it wasn't all that! (And yes- save the trees!)

I liked the quirkyness of Ptoo, but it wasn't at the top of my read stack. I hope Kixie and Plato make appearances elsewhere.

Thank God...the Man will focus a lil more on SiP, I wish...

Ptoo was becoming a sketch-book thing, and I don't want to pay my euros for a sketchbook, plus, am I the only person here who noticed that quality on SiP is becoming lower and lower?

You are definitely not the only one. Many people have mentioned that. I still think the work is of high quality, but I appreciate the different approaches Terry has taken recently.

Howvere, many people have mentioned that there seem to be less and less actual pages in the issues, I don't know. If that's true then that would be a shame. I only have the trades for the earlier issues, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

The "dream sequence" with the dwarves? A ten years old boy would have done better.

The "photo" pages of Nikki? Unuseful.

The Piza's sequence? Another way to fill in the book and waste time, trying to find a way to deal with THAT thing he can't deal with. And, please, where do GLAAD people have eyes? He changed Katchoo into a man to show a kiss...

I'm definitevely getting bored and disappointed.

I was bored with the dwarves sequence but I loved the photo pages of Nikki. I like the different elements Terry is bringing in now. Not all of it works for me, but I do like the change of pace from being a straight panel comic.

Now see, I am a drawfs geek, so I liked that sequence.

I think GLAAD don't have a whole lot of choices and over time Terry has given us a gay positive (uh, in a way) for many years now.

If you want other lesbians in comics however, check out Charm School from Slave Labor Graphics. This comic features a lesbian witch, vampire and dragon fairy. It is a lot of fun.

For something more gritty and realistic, try Gothem Central, Captain Maggie Sawyer came out many years ago in Superman I believe, but has been transfer from Metropolis to Gothem and the current story arc has much of interest to the gay communitie and those that love well written comics. Greg Rucka writes some of the best women in comics today.
